I've broken the speedo needle somehow, and need to take it out to repair it. I've gotten everything else apart, but don't know how to remove the trip meter knob. I looked at the parts manual but wasn't able to work it out from there unfortunately.

If you look down the hollow centre of the knob it is held on by a small philips head screw.
