I need some advice on the best way to refresh the forks on my NSR 250 sp. It has gone soft and I am sure it has never been refreshed. Here are the questions:
1. Buy all new seals and bits refresh the fork oil and reuse the stock spring
2. New seals, refresh oil and replace spring
3. Replace all internals with a cartridge style upgrade
4. Please suggest a fork oil weight as well thanks.
Money is a concern but if the cartridge designs are a vast improvement I may pop for it. The bike is not raced and just ridden on weekends. Any advice appreciated. Also, who is the best source to find the seals, springs etc. _________________ '93 MC21 250sp Repsol "Doohan"
The springs are most likely OK, and fine for street riding, even for those of us who are a little on the portly side!
New oil and dust seals, and a change of fluid should see you OK. I tend to go for 12.5W personally (mix 10W and 15W 50:50), and add a little extra. _________________ Andy.

Thanks Andy. Can you recommend a source for the seals etc? The usual suspects? Are they a common crossover part number from Honda USA? I am a rookie so don't be afraid to walk me through it....I sourced the step by step off of the Dream Gate site and all of the quantities from this site. I picked up new seals for a MC16 from David Silvers spares in the uk. They also carry seals for all other NSR250 models. They spipped them to me in Oz in just under a week via post.
