MC 16 acceleration issues

Mon Jul 16, 2007 10:03 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

ok previously i mentioned a problem when accelerating hard on my mc16

from a standing start in first with a warm engine

i find the biteing point and open the accelerator to about so its about 4500rpm, i let the clutch out and at the same time open the throttle using the rear brake to keep the front down.

i let it rev to 8500rpm and slip the clutch and change gear to second while letting of slightly on the throttle,

i open up straight off and rev till 10000rpm slip the clutch and change gear to third while letting of slightly on the throttle,

same again to fourth and the revs drop to bout 4500rpm and stay there till i let off the throttle completly for a couple seconds then the engine comes back to her normal self and i can continue with my fun.

i have checked the fuel liens and the fuel is flowing fine thru them to the carbs and when i open the overflow its just as good flow as from the lines.
the vavles open and close fully wen riding and reving without load and the bikes fast up in the high hundreds without to much effort.

any ideas?

Sounds like some muck in the carb is being dragged up into the main jet.
you need to remove the float chambers and clean them out. Also remove the jets and clean all the drilling's and jets.
