as of next week the bike will be taken off the road and sorn due to insurance tax and mot costs. (am skint) how is the best way to store it for what mite be a very long time. the bike lives out side just under a bike cover at the moment i need it so when i do put it back on the road theres not much work to be done to get it back up to scratch.
I like to spray all the aluminum with WD40 or any silcone lube that will leave a film.. I hate seeing oxidized aluminum.
Change the Oil
Stabil in the gas (full tank)
Pull the battery.
Pull the airbox and fog the engine, squirt a little in the spark plug holes ..Although a two stroke should have a film of oil, you cant be too safe.
Store it in a dehumidified area if possible.
Im sure theres more.
get a tin of ACF50 of ebay and wipe everything with it and you can rest asured that you wont have any corrosion at all on anything you cover with this stuff, it great stuff.
also make sure you let the petrol out of the carbs.
try and get tyres off the ground, paddock stand or similar, saves tyres getting damaged. have stored a bike under a cover for around 9 months before, coated the whole bike in wd40, no corrosion problems at all, acf stuff should be as good if not better.
well after thinking for a bit i think i will strip it down and hide it up in the loft ! (stop the bailiffs getting hold of it) when im getting ready to put it back on the road it will give me a chance to sort a few little annoying problems with it. a lot of months later....... were did i put that box of bolts do you know were i left that engine dad
Hmmm, I left my '28 outside and siezed up with a cheap cover on for 7 months, Steve put a new barrel on and it fired up on the third kick..... _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Too cold... I prefer to be somewhere warmer when there is stripping on offer..... _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread

Take the bodywork and wheels off then stick it in your bedroom.Chuck some cloths over it and the "old man " will never know its in there. _________________ Harley Davidson is the worlds most efficient way to turn petrol into noise without the harmful side effect of horsepower.
