Need Advice on Tires

Mon Aug 20, 2007 2:43 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi Guys,

Could you advice what tires can feet an NSR250R MC18 R2J of 1992.

By the way, the only NSR in the whole country (Republic of Georgia).

Will the 150/70-18 fit ? I can not find the 140/60-18.

Luckelly, and finally I became an owner of NSR250R MC18 R2J. I have just repainted it an am ready to ride. But, unfortunately my bridgestone tires are dead. I am in the country (Georgia), where you can find any tires. As you know size 18 is really difficult to find as all the new models are with 17.

As you guys are the experts Please advise whether 150/70/18 will fit the bike.

Thank you in advance.

P.S. Have to mention that whole bikers society is amazed with my small beast. Thanking to your website, I have derestricted it, and now it is giving 60 hp. So, the quite famous 400cc could hardly compete.

The higher profile of a 150/70x18 will raise the back a little, which in itself isn't a bad thing on the MC18, as the standard ride height is a bit slow. Lifting the rear will quicken the steering very slightly.

The width is obviously fine, but a 70 series tyre may look a little bulbous. If there is nothing else available though, there isn't much you can do. I'm looking for a nice 150/60x18 for my MC16 project at the moment, so I understand your problem.

I do have a 17" wheel for mine though, and a different swingarm, shock and linkage to accommodate it and raise the rear. I will probably end up using the 17" wheel.

Thank you very much for your comment.

Unfortunately, I am not very good in the technical field therefore might have difficulties in using the 17 disc.

Regarding 150/60/18 tyres. I have found at bridgestone. The code is Batlax BT 14. Quite nice. But there are not available in neighboring areas.

So, if I understood you right, the 150/70-18 will still fit? I have found one in Russia, and want to get it, but was afraid wether it will fit in width-height at the back.

Thank you again for your assistance.
