need part #s for rear cyl head..

im going to do the rear head conv and i need to know which is the part # for the 'R" head.
is it the 830 or the 680?

John, 1220-KV3-830. You will need the radiator hose as well.

12220-KV3-830 is the correct number for a replacement rear head on the R MC28 models based on the Honda parts manual, however the HRC manual states that part number 12220-KV3-680 should be ordered if you are doing the conversion.

Jo, correct me if I am wrong, but I'd assume that the HRC manual is based around an SE/SP model, so I'd imagine the part number HRC quotes is for a head matched to an SE/SP barrel.

The R model has a slightly different barrel, so wouldn't a safer option be to use the R model rear head, just in case?

No right or wrong I think, but something that just struck me looking at my manual.

thanks for the info guys. i need the lower compression R head cos my bike is mainly used on the street. And I want each cylinder's c/r to match. Confused
