Hi all, has anyone seen the two 28's at Fastline superbike centre?? (there on autotrader) seen this shop advertise some 3XV's before and they seem well overpriced, but these two look particularly nice, anyone got any opinions, must be honest, I know very little about these. So are they all correct bodywork, panels, colours etc etc?
Yeah the look nice and seem to be correct but would need a visit to establsh the mechanical condition, they are a lot of money but there arent many available so nothing to compare them to.
Around £4k or so seems to be what people expect for a v-tidy '28, Lobelow asked £4.5k for his, don't know if he got it though.
The value of anything is just what someone will pay for it, after all little antique trinkets actually worth near nothing fetch tens of thousands at auction.
I'd worry* more about if it's all there and o.e. Honda than if it's mechanically perfect if you're after a minter, engines are easily fixed, swapped out or whatever and, shiney or not, if you use it then it's going to go wrong. But getting hold of perfect mc28 bodywork is either a very expensive or very difficult process and as stocks run out it'll become both.
You can't be bitten that hard by a 250, you could easily buy what appeared to be a nice RC30 or '45 and find yourself with a job few would attempt at home and a repair bill running into 5 figures. There isn't such a thing as a NSR250 rebuild people on here won't talk you though and if you do the work yourself and have a bit of patience you'll really struggle to get into 4 figures (GBP).
But you won't get a '28 real cheap these days, I paid £1665 for a non runner with no bodywork to speak of. If you just want a 2 stroke that sort of ££ will buy you a decent mc21, a good Aprilia RS250, a very good RGV vj22, a mint RGV250 vj21 etc. But if it must be a mc28 then it must, only you know if something 2nd class will do.
*I wouldn't "worry" at all, when all is said and done it's a 10 year old motorbike, the world won't end no matter what is wrong with it. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
i think you will find anything at fastline will be expensive, but they are usually good quality.they have also been at imports a long time formerly known as b and m imports.nice chaps aswell.
Thanks guys, wasn't particularly wanting a 28, but would like something all original as far as bodywork was concerned, got enough 'projects that need work, so would look for standard and clean above other factors, unless i can find an excellent sprayer close by. still got my eye on a very nice 21 I looked at a while ago, but now I've seen the options list with SE spec and Magteks etc, I'm veering away from the base model, There's also another 28SP just put up on ebay today, Item number: 290161044373 but from £4,750
Unless you really want a '28 they aren't a wise choice, very expensive to buy, a lot of money to derestrict properly and impossible to retain all the road kit if you do.
Bide your time and you'll get a really nice '21sp for a lot less, the odd shop tries to pass them on for '28 money but the reality is £2.5 - £3k gets you a minter like this. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
That ebay one is a joke lol. For that money I'd want it still in it's HRC wrapping paper! It's not even what you'd class as pristine... _________________ NSR300R - Why did i ever have a 250...
That's my favorite year, but damn that's a lot of money for the condition and for the UK market from what I understand.
Even if that bike was in the states and California registered that's high for the miles and condition. At 31000 km it's past it's crank replacement recommendation which is a major drawback.
how much should something like that go for in the states with current registration? i will be in the market for a 28 soon and dont want to get ripped off.
