another newbie question, pardon me for my ignorance.
on a sitting position, theres the left and right carburators which carburator goes to which cylinder?

and when do we have to decarbonize the head and the exhaust? and can i use a silicon gasket maker(tubed) for the replacement of the head gasket?

all replies will be highly appreciated TIA

1. The carb's pretty much line up with the cylinder they go to. The left carb goes to the left/upper cylinder and the right carb goes to the right/lower cylinder.

2. The heads should be cleaned up when doing a top end. They dont' really build up carbon like your power valves or exhaust will. I generally use a contact cleaner and a fine 00 scotch brite pad with almost no elbow grease the head is shiny as new. Now the flap valves and exhaust take a little more attention.

3. Silicon should not be used to replace the head gasket, or base gasket. Stick with the paper gasket for the base gasket and the metal gasket for the head gasket.

the power valves (also called RC valves, or flapper valves, etc.) are in the exhaust port of the cylinder. And yes, in order to clean them properly, you should remove them and then scrape off all the carbon build up, then polish them clean. Generally the pockets the valves sit in don't get build up, but the exhaust port does, so you want to clean that area up really well.

then he exhaust pipes themselves can get a good amount of build up. There are special tools for cleaning expansion chambers. Basically like a unravled wire cable that attaches to a drill. stick it in, turn on the drill and clean away. Of course with the stock exhaust, you got baffles and stuff inside the exhaust so you may not want to go all the way in with the tool.

okay sir thanks again for the info.

well with regards to expansion chambers(stock), a shop here offer a clean up. put a big square hole, scrape the build up and weld it back nice and clean. no sweat. the same on how we clean our 2 stroke scooters pipes. Very Happy
