Hey, I'm wondering if anyone can answer some questions for me. First off I'm taking some racing classes this spring and need some advice. What suspension and brake upgrades (budget minded) should I perform on my mc18 r5k? SP rear shock? Are the front forks good enough if I have someone revalve and set them up for my weight? issthere a fairly easy front end swap that will be cost effective and give results? If so what year/model and what is involved? Decent tires, I am noticing the selection around here is limited. Any other suggestions would be appreciated as well.
And on an unrelated matter, what is the biggest difficulty in mounting mc21 fairings to mc18's. I know some people on here have done so and I would like to put a tyga mc21/28 kit on my mc18. _________________ 2stroke or squeezed
Best budget minded suspension improvement is simply to have the standard gear fully serviced and built to your own particular needs (weight etc). Transformed my MC21 when I was racing it.
Then have the suspension set up at the track by someone who knows what they're doing working with you - set up the sag for your weight, setup the fork height so the bike drops into corners how you like it etc.
Fully service the brakes and fit fresh pads.
GPR70 tyres are good enough to scrape the fairings on a sunny day, but a bit scary in the wet. Not sure what you have available to you out there...
No idea on the fairings! _________________ MC21SP Plaything

The not only raises the rate of the rear spring, but raises the rear ride height, and consequently steepens the steering angle too. Pulling the forks 10mm or so through the yokes (triples) also makes a big difference.
As Dave says, a quality suspension rebuild is the most cost effective upgrade. I believe (but can't remember for sure) that an early CBR600 rear shock will fit with very little modification, so you may be able to find an old Ohlins/Maxton etc. and have that rebuilt to the correct weight. RS250 RWU front forks will fit straight in to the NSR clamps. If you use 1991 you get compression, preload, and rebound adjustment that actually works! You also get caliper mounts spaced for 296mm discs. _________________ Andy.

So i have heard that vfr400 forks and brakes are a good upgrade, is this so? It would probably be easier for me to find a set of vfr forks thans rs250 ones. And since I was planning on having the forks rebuilt I could change the spring rate to suit the lighter bike then. Does the nsr wheel fit fine with vfr forks?
Also where is a good online place to buy some gpr70's. It seems there is almost nothing for tires for my bike here so I might order from over seas.
Thanks for all the info so far guys. _________________ 2stroke or squeezed
