fitting larger discs to mc18?

Mon Mar 03, 2008 9:25 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

looked through old posts but can't find out wether or not any one makes caliper adapter plates to allow the use of 296mm discs with my mc18 forks.
does any one make them or does anyone have a set they want to give a new home to?

Hi I'm about to fit NC30 forks and disks to my MC18 as the forks have more adjustment and the disks are bigger but still retain the std wheel and brake calipers but not the mudguard you'll need an NC30 one and paint it .

yep that was my next move if adapters weren't available!
was thinking of fitting a set of shiny wave discs to modernise the look of the front a bit! having said that if someone made 275mm wave discs for the nsr i'd be bying a set of them instead! lol

why dont you just simply make your own adaptors to fit the calipers. Measure it all up then make your self a nice template out of some stiff card then convert that to a piece of thin sheet steel. Once you have a nice example in sheet steel pop into your local engineeering shop and ask them to make a pair for ya and they could even cut some threads in them for you to bolt the calipers to. I have done this before with cars when converting them to bigger discs.

sounds a bit complicated to me! plus if you go for the later nc30 forks you get more adjustment on them! or more to mess around with and bugger up the handling. Laughing

Just thought i should suggest it thats all, Just if you had them made up there would be nothing stopping you getting a few of them made and selling them on here in the classifieds section, im sure there would be a few takers for them. You might even make a bit.

i had prolites on my old MC16. With standard calipers and EBC sintered pads the brakes were fantastic. I would say they were better than the stock 21 brakes i later fitted.
