i was considering getting a dry cell battery like what the tzr 250 3xv use because you can mount them anyway you like so went on the hunt and found some but starting at £94 upwards needless to say i shall not be buying one and will be getting a normal battery and making our own battery box _________________ ive seen more tarts than mr kipling

I recently bought a new battery for my 3XV and it was only about £25-£30.
It's a tiny little thing, GT4B and uses a terminal block connector. _________________ Warning:

Yes, the 3XV type batteries (try looking for a CT4B-5) are easily and cheaply available now as quite a few of the newer 'peds use them . You should pick one up for anywhere between 20 and 30 quid I'd think. They are a relatively low output battery, but they do the job well enough - and as you note are much smaller than a conventional type and you can stick 'em anywhere you like. Even upside down if you fancy! They are about half a kilo ligher than a conventional type battery too.
My only concern would be that NSRs seem to like a good charge in the battery in order to fire up. The 3XV battery might be a bit anemic in comparison to a 'proper' battery. If they work OK on the NSR though, I'd think it a useful mod if you are wanting to lose weight (from the bike ) or relocate the battery.
thanks for the info and i might be brave and try one my mums got a ped i might have a look to see if i could borrow it _________________ ive seen more tarts than mr kipling
