any one know what size the slow jets should be as standard on the mc18 r5k??
mine has 42's in it , just wondered if thats as it should be?
cheers
dunk.
sorry all ,just checked the parts manual and it's #38 like all the other nsr's lol. wasn't on the carb spec sheet ! guess mine had a 42 fitted as it used to run pre-mix????
Could have been, or because it had aftermarket pipes, or no air filter, or because the previous owner didn't know what they were doing!
So long as it runs right, then the actual numbers don't mean a thing. _________________ MC21SP Plaything

Where there's no updated information it means the specification(s) remains unchanged from the previous model/year.
Most likely the bike previously ran pre-mix or as Dave says, the owner didn't know what he was doing! I think you'll find a set of #38's will most likely sort your low RPM issues. _________________ Andy.

#42's will be way too rich for it if you are running stock oil pump and airbox/filter, even if modified.
We've run #40's before, but it's more often than not still too rich. I know owners that have even gone down to #35 on the slow jets to get it clean at the bottom-end.
Honda seem to have it bang-on with #38S's... funny that! _________________ Andy.
