advice needed-which model to buy?

Sun Jul 06, 2008 4:40 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi Guys
nice forum, an excellent and grown up read. I'm intending to buy a 250 in the immediate future and have been seduced by the apparent quality of the Honda. In your honest opinion is it the best of the 250's, I've previously owned a RGV250 and a couple of Aprilias, so are they better or worse. The Honda commands a significant price premium, and is it justified? Which model would you suggest I go for and where might I look(there's a nice looking one in Reading just now at £4450, is that value?). What needs to be done, if anything, and what do I need to look for, other than originality, of course. Are there 'must do' things like derestriction or tuning, and I'm certain that you can go on and on if desired, as with most machines. Price isn't the be all and end all but £5K for an old 250 stinkwheel is pretty top money and I need all the help I can get!
I have a small collection of bikes and miss a modern two stroke, the only 2T's I have at present are Scotts, and they're slightly different...

I'm grateful for any help or advice.

A tutto gas

Paul

Hi, Sounds like you are looking at an mc28 by the price. Is it at bridge moto in reading?
There are different models R,SE and SP all have differences. The R is a base model where as the SE has adjustable suspension and dry clutch along with the SP. The SP also has lightweight magtek wheels.
The SE and the SP are a bit more sort after and have a higher price.
All The mc28's were restricted and details of how to derestict and tune can be found on this site. I think they can cost a bit for the derestricted ignition and hrc card.
I used to own an aprilia rs250 (old shape) which was a great bike but like a lot of people always considered the NSR the one to have.
Have a look around the site it'll probably answer a lot of your questions.
