Honda RS250 Front End

Sat Jul 19, 2008 9:07 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

At the end of the riding season I will be fitting a Honda RS250 front end to my R4J.
Has anyone done this to an MC18 Mk 1? I will be using the GP bikes forks, triples, Brembo Goldline brakes, master cylinder and 296mm discs. There is the issue of the stem. Can I get a custom one or do I have to butcher my triples? Also I am wondering about rad clearance, wheel spacers and relocating the ignition.

Any help appreciated. Very Happy

Speak to TYGA for a custom alloy stem, as Matt has the CAD design already. It'll save you having to pay someone to work out the dimensions of everything!

He will also be able to supply a bush for the top triple to suit the slimmer stem too.

I relocated my ignition switch to the left hand lower fairing bracket in place of the helmet lock, which was always too small/tight to fit a helmet on anyway! You can only use one of the bolt holes to secure the switch, but it only needs to be held in place... it's not taking any strain like it does when acting as a steering lock too.

Mix'n'match MC18/MC21 wheel spacers to get the wheel in. Spacers depend on the wheel and also the front-end. TYGA do an alloy wheel spacer kit, but it consists of one narrow and one wide spacer, and there is every possibility that you will need two narror or two wide spacers. Still, that doesn't stop you buying two kits, eh?! Wink

I have a 1991 RWU front-end for the MC16 and a 1992 USD front-end for the MC21, and both require different spacer combinations depending whether I want to run an Enkie or a Magtek.
