mc21 new owner

Tue Mar 10, 2009 10:45 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi brothers with NSR'S!!! Smile

Congratulations for the site it looks fantastic...

I am a new mc21 ownwer. I have some problems to solve cause the owner before me had no love for this bike. Mad

The bike is derestricted by the tuning section informations.

The oil pump is on but blocked cause didnt have a good feed and i run premix. An other one is in order to fix this problem.

The airbox had no filter inside so i fitted a free flow one and cutted the lid

a little bit at the back where the holes are just to let it take a full breath...

Something to mention here the T piece which is connected with the X piece is left in open air i dont know if normally it is supposed to plug somewhere.

I installed bigger jets 160 mains and i was ready for a ride.

The bike goes fine until 12.000 rpm except the 5-6th gear seems to cut

power nearly 10-11.000 rpm. It seems like it runs out of mixture because

I pulled the choke on and it does the same. Is this normall?

And something else i checked the plugs and they havent got brown they

are somewhat like grey and imagine that usually i ride it around the block.

What should i check to fix this problems and enjoy the bike? Thanks for

reading and sorry for being so tiring but here in greece we have a good

wheather Cool and my mind is going crazy watcing the bike unready for full throttle abuse Twisted Evil

Hello dimitris_mc21 and welcome to the forum.

Grey plugs would normally indicate a lean mixture. The motor will always find it easier to rev in the low gears as it's under less load, even if the mixture is incorrect.

Symtoms similar to fuel starvation in the higher gears could be a lean mixture or incorrect float levels.

If the bike is fitted with the HRC jet kit, then the X-piece should be left open to air, as described in the tuning section.

Specific jetting is not allowed to be discussed on the public forum. There is a special section in the Members Area where you may get some advice on specific setup.

Hi andy and thanks for the reply.

I havent got the HRC jet kit so i have the X piece as it should.

I dont know about the T piece if i can left the one pipe of it in the air or plug it somewhere...

About the float leves which is the best way to adjust them can i find some infos how to do it?

No mechanic here is going to sit &fix it for me no one cares about
a 16 year old bike so i need as much help as i can get. Thanks again.

Search is your friend... it's all been discussed before!

Loads of posts about T-pieces, Y-pieces, and X-pieces too, if you look for them.

You'll find there isn't much that hasn't been covered before! The forum (in this incarnation) has been going for about 5 years now, and before that was running for about 4 years as nsr250.com, so there's been a lot of posts, problems and solutions in that time... many of which can be read about in archived threads through the search! Smile

There are a lot of forum members that have been around for a long time who will rememeber specific posts and solutions. If you look for the info and can't find it, they will usually post links for you, but you need to be seen to be helping yourself by searching! Wink
