Does a MC21 Gull swingarm fit on a MC18? What about a MC28?

I've seen photo's of a MC28 swingarm on an MC18. And MC21 and MC28 frame is nearly identical. So it can be done. I just can't remember what work was required... Do a search Smile

Both have been talked about many times. In depth in a couple of threads.

Back in the old days, when TV was in black & white and everyone walked very quickly, Racer38 built this MC18...

The MC28 didn't exist back then, so there was a point to doing it.

He's written a whole post about it somewhere if you search for it.

The only advantage I can see in the MC21 swingarm is the availability of pipes. MC 18 swinger is lighter. and just about as strong.

Look up the Yahoo auctions in japan. They always seem have the MC18 F3 pipes.

MC21 rear wheel will slot into an MC18 swingarm with no modification... and an MC28 rear wheel is easily worth $200~300.

In my opinion, you are much better off fitting the MC21 wheel and selling the MC28 wheel, then trying to fit a different swingarm.

And probably give more for it too! Wink

Being as NC30's only came with an 18" rear wheel, there's a much higher demand for a 17" MC28 wheel for a VFR400 than there is from NSR owners... unless of course it's a Magtek!?

That's quite trick! Very Happy

If I didn't already have a couple of MC18 HRC swingarms I'd have to get that! Laughing

It's not HRC though, so I'll pass! Smile
