PJ carb info?

So why do my supposed "PJ 38's" have PJ 32 stamped on the sides? The outlet side measures 38 mm. I also have a set marked PJ 30 that measure the same. WTF?

Mine say PJ25... but I suspect only PJ is relevant, the rest is serial number or manufacturing number.

My PJ38's are quite early. Logically I would say the higher the number, the newer the type. Differences are generally in bypass design and other minor internal differences you can't necessarily see.

They are called PJ38's because they are a PJ carb and 38mm diameter.
PJ36's are a PJ model carb and 36mm diameter and so on...

My '38's are marked PJ 29.
