How do you get the frame sparkling?

Wed Feb 04, 2009 9:38 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Just getting round to sprucing the frame up on the MC18. At mo' looks well knackered with lots of varnish lifting off. I was told that Nitromors and solvol would do it, but mine must be very knackered as it did not shift the stains on the alloy/aluminium. Does anyone have a quick solution, preferably with the help of power tools?

I was then told Armorall would seal the frame once finished - good or bad advice?

Cheers folks - can't be arsed stuck in the shed doing this, any advice welcome.

I don't believe there is any quick way to remove all the anodising besides sending it in and having it bathed.
I once used oven cleaner, which has a high enough acid content to lift anodising, which works a charm but still requires elbow grease.

If you can find an anodizing plant they can strip the coating off in seconds.
anodizing is a extremely hard coating i recently has some forks done it took all of 30 seconds to strip the coating in there acid bath, that allowed me to polish the forks before re-anodizing.

Thanks. I've got a new frame as well, so will look into getting that done at the same time.
