EGT's useful?

Sun Dec 05, 2004 8:36 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi all,
was wondering if these little things are any use in tuning and/or catching an incorrect mixture before damage occurs...?
I've seen one here -
http://www.pro-flo.com/proflo_2in_twin_egt_gauge_kit.htm
but don't know to much about NSR usage. Somebody who races here swears by them for help in jetting..

cheers
Chris

Microlight pilots ALWAYS have them fitted, and they're fairly picky about their engines not going pop, so it's a good bet they're usefull.

I'd like to know more about these too. I'm not real confident in my jetting abilities. This would be nice to keep an eye on until I gain more experience. I've also seen Speedtune being used but can find next to nothing about them on the internet. Anybody know about these?

Do a search on microlight sites. A dual display and senders is about £40.

Dave, can you be more specific? I tried microlight and come up with everything but what I'm looking for.

James Mason (who is a member of the forum) has used EGT guages on his NSR for some time now. Maybe I can get him to drop by and share his findings.

One thing I seem to rmember him saying though, was that it's very important to get the sensors in the correct position in the downpipes else you will get false readings - something you definitely don't want!!

Andy.
