carb sync and solenoid filter

Tue Jan 13, 2009 9:30 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Evening all

My carbs need sync'ing, and have read from stephens old posts that vacum guages can be attaced at a couple of points opposite the oil feeds on the carbs.

When adjusting the idle for each carb should this be done on the A and B throttle cable adjusters or the by using the adjustment screw on the linkage.

also, carb related, i removed the airbox tonight and removed the soleniod filter unit from underneath the airbox, there was however no sign of a filter, just a plastic cup type thing, is the missing filter a sponge or paper element? assume it must be like a disc, that can easily come out. Best place for replacement i assume is tyga or order through honda dealer?

cheers
brendan

Same principle I would imagine, despite there being 4 of them, and them being CV's!

YEah, it's those RGV's that are messing with your mind! Laughing

Yeah, pretty much the same for the MC21 and can also be applied to the MC18's and MC16.

The Later MC21 carbs have a "dimple" on the slide that can be used to visually align them, and all the other carbs can be visually aligned by the little crescent cut-outs at the bottom of the slide as they lift up and "touch" the top edge of the carb body.

Fine adjustment is then done with the air screws based on the venturi pressure measured with a vacuum gauge.

I have probably got a spare one if you are stuck, I have a couple of old airboxes kicking around.
They do have filter in, not sure if its sponge or paper.
