Am I the only person that has found it just about impossible to fit the pipes on my bike after a 300 kit install? Mainly the problem is with the upper cylinder's pipe. The angle of the manifold seems to be just a touch off. It puts the pipe right against the lower cylinder, and in it's best position to get the end can in the right spot, the manifold doesn't even come close to sealing against the cylinder......
Need some serious help, I'd hate to try and modify the manifold and make it worse. Hopefully one of you have had the same trouble and can give me the answer.

Yeah they are a bit of a pain to get the angle just right but they will fit if you keep at it.
Most I've seen have touched the lower cylinder/head at some point.
It also helps if you have braces to the cans rather than just letting them flop around in the breeze. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
No, there is no gaket on the 300 kits. There isn't enough room.
Just use a high temp sealer.
I fit them dry, mark the postion, remove the exhaust then glue the manifolds up in the pre marked position. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
I had the bottom cyl pipe fitted pretty nice, not a drip of oil at all on my first 3 heat cycles with no sealant....
The top was a way different story though. Barking and spitting oil all over the nice - clean - new cylinder.
I tried to swap the manifolds and now I cannot get the bottom pipe lined up.
All this might be due to the extremely tight fit between the pipes and manifolds. I've already done a lot of work just getting the manifolds into the pipes...... But the GP style pipes that were on the bike accept the 300 manifolds nicely. So it's like these pipes are a bit small(?) and any little spin of the manifold makes for a lot of binding with NO play at all to even get the mounting bolts started....
Running out of patience fast.

Problem solved..... Just opened those pipes up a bit more and seems to be working good. No sealant, no leaks. Just took it for the first spin round the block...... I like the 300 already.
Thanks for your input. _________________ MC21

I've not checked into the forum for a while, but this caught my eye.
If you have a problem with the 300 kit then please get in touch.
Concerning the manifolds, yeah, even I have to admit that they're a pain in the bum and require patience, but they will work.
The main reason for them being a pain is that by making them easier to fit, we lose the dimensions of the pipes and all that hard work goes down the pan.
