If an MC21 is run without the fairing, except for headlight/windscreen, will the cooling have an effect on the jetting compared to when the full fairing is run?
The reason I am asking is that after a top end rebuild, I did some runs with the fairing off, and found that the front cylinder was running a bit richer than the top cylinder. Starting it the front cylinder had noticeably more smoke, and checking the plugs, after the break-in and significant running, the front is quite black, while top is nice brown, possibly a little hot.
Should running without the fairing change the cooling/jetting?
I wouldn't have thought it would have a significant effect. 90% of the cooling comes from the radiator, and even if that was cooling more efficiently with the fairing missing, the thermostat should keep the engine at a steady 80-odd degrees.
Did it seem to be running any cooler? _________________ MC21SP Plaything

Ive been running mine naked a week or so while im chekin on oil leaks. Havent noticed anything different in temp at all to tell the truth. Sounds like carby issue moreso than fairing missing. _________________

Why does there have to be an issue? Surely the best way to set any bike up is to jet the cylinders as seperate, what one wants is no guarantee or guide as to what the other will want. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
