NSR250 forks

Sun Jun 14, 2009 12:18 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi,
I bought a set of new old stock forks I was told was for the NSR250. However they are smaller than the ones I have on my MC 18 and MC21's. They have "KV3-R" or "KV3-L" stamped on them plus "11" underneath then "SA-1" below that. Down the bottom in black print is "6 V24". Does anyone know what these are off? I thought KV3 designation was NSR but I must be incorrect. The diameter of the forks is 37mm not the 41mm on my current bikes.

yeah sounds like MC16. Check the top caps, if there is an air valve under the cap, you have a pair of 16 legs.

Hi,
The forks have a small preload adjuster but not sure what you mean by air valve as I cant see one. The mounting brackets for the calipers are different too. They are even lengths unlike the staggered arrangement on my 18 and 21's. The MC16 had 37mm then?

is the small preload adjuster about the size of a tire valve cover? If it is undo all the way and you will see the valve. Yes the 16 has skinner forks than the later models. As usual I am at work on the mine site so i can duck out and measure mine up, but 37 sounds about right. I'll check what photos I have on my laptop to see if I can find any to help.

Cheers,
