Quick shifter suitable for an amputee?

Sat Jun 20, 2009 10:18 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hello guys! Smile

I'm from South Africa, and there are plenty of NSR's around -mc16 -28.
I have just bought one (1992 - rothmans honda mc21)
Problem is i can start it, but not ride it as I cant change gears.
Does anyone out there know where i can get a device to change gears from the handle bar?
My email is: colinginsburg@gmail.com Smile

Hello Colin, and welcome to the forum.

Try a Google search for Translogic Power Shifter.

Alternatively, look at swapping the gear change to the right hand side, and using a thumb rear brake. I used to race against a guy who had this setup on his VFR400, and he was damn fast - used to grind through the boot of his prosthetic foot!

Thanks for the advice!
One other question, there seems to be a dislike for ordinary R models.
Whats the problem?

Most R owners I know ride theirs on the road and for them its enough.
All this adjustable shock stuff is only good for track use, road use not much difference unless you weigh a ton.

I'm looking at buying an Original NSR2507L (Black / grey accents) in nearly mint condition for ZAR15000.

Thanks again for the reply's Smile

Nah, it's only MC28's we give a hard time too! Laughing

Nothing wrong with an "R" model, but we're all tarts and like the noise of the dry clutch and the attention it generates, truth be told! Very Happy

Now, if it was an MC28R/300 with a stock card, then we'd be giving you a hard time!* Wink

*Joke... JOKE! Before everyone kicks off again!!!

NSR's are pretty rare to begin with, and some people get quite a hard on about the rarest - most 'special' of them... Wink
