Two MC21 questions?

Sat May 02, 2009 8:18 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hey guy's , I noticed two annomilies unfamiliar to me, in reguards to a recent 93' model ,MC21' SP' aquisition? The first is , that the OEM 'SP' fork-tubes have a ''relief'' cut ,with a ''circlip'' installed ,approximately 2.5 inches below the top of each tube?? never seen this before on other MC21 'SE' or 'R' fork tubes? or its purpose? Also , the dry-clutch 'SP' motor, Twisted Evil has the HRC ''racing'' logo on the OEM clutch cover , as well as "honda racing'' cast into the aluminum side-engine-case? never seen that on any of my other MC21's either? any info. appreciated.;dave

Shocked

Actually my race bike looks like that after every weekend I use it. I tear my race bike down, clean everything, check all bolts and make sure there are no issues. It's those that get home from the track, stick the bike in the garage and don't touch it till they get back to the track are the people who scare me. Don't really want to be around those people as I am leaned into a corner at high speeds, or coming down the front straight into turn 1 braking zone?

cleaning everything on my bike would take me forever... thats like 5-6 hrs of just sitting there cleaning everything...

i know i'm lazy... i guess you're lucky i'm not leaning on you in a corner dropping oil on ya Cool Laughing

i used to keep my bikes clean but i crash a lot and everything just gets rashed up so i just keep things relatively tidy, it might not be the prettiest but it all works and isn't a hazard to anyone...

Once you have it clean, it really doesn't take that much time to keep it that way.

I don't look at it as lazy vs not being lazy, I look at it as knowing my bike is safe vs not knowing

and if even one of those crashes was due to a mechanical, just think that it could have been prevented?

Aaarh, I was hoping for some miracle chemical that could clean without taking the whole thing apart.

It'll have to wait to the next crankproblem (knock knock) , hopefully never.

People talk about caustic soda, but I tried to clean aluminium with it. It works but leaves the alu black, not shiny.
