engine rebuilds

Thu Jun 25, 2009 1:34 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

i will be needing to do a rebuild on my nsr250 and know that for a mechanic to do this it could cost as much as my bike did and was just wondering how many people buy the parts they need and do a top end or even bottom end rebuild themselves.

Most people are quite happy to attempt a top end I think, if you've got the parts it's a morning's work even on a roadbike, if it's a racebike, quick release bodywork, no oil pump, no airbox etc. it could be done in under 2 hours easily.

yeah rob and its those that do.. that may get themselves in some sh*t too!

but theres a guide available on jamies website, cant remember where it is but it is there

i cant remember if this website did, but you can always buy the MC28 manual from someone who was selling it in the classifieds and the motor sections i think are the same for a top end... for mc21/28

mc21 that probably needs a bottom end rebuild as well as a top end
i think people thrash these bikes when they know they are going to sell them. hence the fact i need a bottom end rebuild.
