air filter

Fri Jun 26, 2009 3:28 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

i was just wondering as i was having a look at my bike
i was expecting as i was unscrewing my air filter
to see that the foam would be dirty and i could clean it
so my bike could run better
but there was no foam rather a stocking
i was just wondering why
i no it would let in air quicker
but a stocking is just so thin
and could easily rip or something
your thoughts please? Smile

Hi Mate
Good to see more ozzys here. The stocking would be for performance. Is it for road or track. If it`s road i`d get a foam filter for it cable tie in and leave top of. Safer that way it opens the box right up .Just remember if you change it at all you will have to rejet.

You just need to practice your aussie accent Dave. It rhymes . . .

I bought some foam sheet from QLD Air cleaners, and cut my own using the lid as a template. Heaps cheaper than buying anything genuine or aftermarket. I think the sheet was about 15 dollars and is 1m x 1m, so you could cut 1000 filters out of it.
Make sure you oil it though. I still run the lid on mine with extra holes drilled in the lid.
