D cylinder???

Wed Aug 05, 2009 2:27 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Nothing is ever easy for me. I finally figured out what the A, B, C choices mean on Tyga's site and I wanted to get a couple top end kits on the way tonight. Well, I look at the cylinders and what do they say? D ! A search for "D cylinder" in the forum brings back too much info to find an answer on my own. Please help!

Thanks!
Craig

For clarification, the numbers I am seeing are on the right side of the cylinders when sitting on the bike. This is not the "opposite side of the exhaust port" as I found described somewhere on the net. The D is stamped on the leftmost side, and 2MB1L273 is on the right side.

Thanks again,
Craig

Go to the Online Parts Manual, open any MC21 cylinder/head page, and click on "notes" in the menu tree. That will show a diagram of where to look, and the piston/barrel combinations.

So D means C in Japanese? The confusing part is that I am not sure if I have a D code or a no code. There is nothing where the pic shows, but a D next to it on the side of the cylinder. Man, I need a beer. This is wearing me down.

Thanks Andy! At least I'm getting closer...

No, the "B", "#" (no mark), and "D" are the piston sizes. Barrels are "A", "B", and "C".

It's often a very light stamp, sometimes only half a letter, on the back of the barrel. You should measure it anyway to see which piston would be best.

You need a parts manual at the least and if you have some extra cash a workshop manual as well, which can be had in English these days. Cool

It has a nice chart of which cylinder goes with which piston and a bunch of other required info.
