Just about to get my frame blacked out. Not sure which is best method and would like opinions if anyone has any? I would like a semi gloss black finish I guess.
I have heard anodizing color can be very variable between cast, extruded pieces of aluminum and considering the variation of bits used to make these frames I am thinking powder coat will be the best method. _________________ 94 mc28 SE
hi mate
i do a lot of alloy windows with powder coat and anadized . powder coat scratches very easy . i think 2 pac is more scratch risistant than powder coat.
I've just powdercoated my frame in a colour called Phantom Black which is like satin black.
We have a powdercoating area at work so they sorted it out for me.
What they did with my frame was heated it up before it was coated so that the powder sticks to it better and gets in all the little nooks and crannys.
Makes it look trick.
One word of advice would be to tape up everything you don't want powder on i.e any thing where to bits move on each other. Also make sure you order the bearings you need before you start.............one bearing in the swingarm is an odd size and a honda only part..............EX JAPAN............and not cheap
Whitebait did you have to sandblast your frame? took mine tot the guy today and he said he will look closer at it when he has tim but it might need a powdercoat. What model nsr do you have? _________________ 94 mc28 SE
I have a powder coated frame on my 29, be aware it does mark very easily and be very carefull not to spill any fuel on it as it goes cloudy. _________________ MC21SP - Roth-tax

When you anadize your frame , you have to remove anything that is steel . It gets destroyed in the process . I did my rzv 500 frame black and i like it !
