If it's freshly back from the platers, I check it over to look for high spots or bad plating, then shove the piston in it!

Do you know for sure that they're brand new and never been plated? If so, you can clean them up with a bit of fuel soaked rag and use them with the correct piston - assuming you can / have got them.

If you aren't 100% sure you have brand new barrels then make sure you carefully check the piston and ring clearances. Or they won't stay new for very long...

In fact, new or old, be sure to check the tolerances and if it's all good, then go ahead and use them. Wink

these are not new they are used ,I talked with a friend and he said before reusing the cyclinder it was good to run a light hone inside so the rings would seat properly does this sound acurate or just a good cleaning check the ring gaps and go

I'd check the piston/bore clearance (around 0.04mm is what you want if you don't trust your verni-eye gauge) and if that's OK, chuck them in and be done with it.

Lol. No offence meant Mr. Lonestar. I just admire Fontyyy's more gung ho approach to such things Very Happy . Much more in keeping with my own rather-be-riding-it-than-measuring-it take on motorcycling I suppose Laughing.

Stormy, a bit of work on the kinky reverse and you'll be madly in love. I promise Very Happy .

Well, whats the worst that could happen?

That's what occurs when you think about jetting up, don't actually do it then go out and race at 5.30pm on a late September eve.
