wheel bearing loose

Mon Sep 28, 2009 3:01 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi folks,

My rear Magtek on 21 has a problem of, I guess, wear. Wheel bearings don't fit firmly in the wheel holes.

Is bearing supposed to just put in or it needs to press fit?
Does anyone have any recommendation for me how to fix it? I heard that hard chrome plating can restore the dimension that has experienced wear. Any clue? Help please

Cheers,
Jim

It should need a good tap to get it in, depending on how loose it is you could try getting some none genuine bearings, in my experience they always need one hell of a smack to get them in.

Hi Jim, if bearings are loose in wheel, try something like loctite bearing fit, also when removing or replacing bearings try warming hub with either a heatgun or a kettle of boiling water poured on hub, makes removal and replacing much easier.
