Badly corroded and distorted by the previous owner...

(This is going to end in a bad/expensive way isn't it? Sad )

Can you not get your forks straightened and re-chromed?

A set of (straight) R2J or even MC21 forks shouldn't cost too much, although you would probably need to consider shipping costs to Greece.

I don't see why sorting the front-end on an R model shoud be expensive, what with many people seeking MC21 SE/SP or USD forks. There must be loads of OK sets kicking around! I gave away the last set of MC21R forks I had... they didn't even need a rebuild! Strangely, they are now sat on an MC18 R2J!

I thought of repairing them (although I have my doubts, that it can be done) but the bill for shipping and repair will be heavier, than finding a second hand pair on ebay. I don't know of anyone that can re-chrome, here in Greece,.

I have some sets from my 21s at my garage but all suffer from corrosion, plus I want to keep the bike as original as possible, so I m trying to stick with 18s at the moment. If that proves impossible, I ll check other ways to solve this problem.

(Is fork tube, the same in meaning as stanchion? Excuse my poor English people)

Stanchions are available still. I got a pair from David Silver £59 each, plus VAT, etc
Only 6K (SP) ones showing now for the same price.
Might still be cheaper that messing about with old ones if they're the same spec.

The lowers were sent off the FitForx for polishing and laquering
