Stafford Show Oct 17/18 2009

Thu Jul 09, 2009 2:39 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Freddie Spencer is the guest of honour this year apparently. With that in mind, Diff'rent Strokers is thinking about having an all-NSR theme for our stand.

We did an all-Suzuki thing for Schwantz last year which went down well with the RGV boys and Revin' Kevin himself popped along to autograph the bikes. Cool

If NSR-World is planning something similar, let us know and we'll do something else - we don't want to step on any toes. But if you're not, and you'd like to show your NSR off with us, please get in touch.

We want a representative sample rather than lots of bikes all the same so this applies to MC11/16/18/21 and 50/125/150/400cc owners as well as you lucky sods with Rothmans 28SP's. Standard or special, road or race, let us know what you've got.

What we end up doing will depend entirely on who offers to bring their bike along. The default is to just use what's in my garage and no-one wants to see those old heaps again do they ?

I'll gladly offer up my Rothmans 21SP, I am going to be at the Stafford Show anyway. Just let me know if you need / want it for the stand, or if you are wanting more 'bling' and go with a 28 Rothmans instead Laughing Laughing

Happy to bring along my MC21SP too. Not Rothmans, but completely standard.

You are welcome to use my Pentax but its another mc21sp I'm afraid.
If it's going to be a bit of a Freddie Spencer tribute then a line up of mc18, 21 & 28 Rothmans bikes would be good.
I thought Andy was building a mc16 spencer replica or is that still a pile of parts in the airing cupboard?

Don't remind me! I did think about what I could come up with by then! It would be cool to have it at least together for him to sign the tank! Smile

I think finished, or certainly properly mocked-up (i.e. you can't tell it's not a runner!) bikes are what are required Si.

If I were putting on a stand for a show like Stafford, I'd like to see the following bikes there:

m4rk79's MC16

RobH's MC18

PaulG's MC21 Pentax

RichG's MC21 Rothmans

banshee's MC28

bd197's MC28

And of course, StephenRC45's MC21 F-III

Not forgetting Strokerboy's MC28 Rothman's of course!

All pretty much close to perfect examples of "stock" bikes.

I might be up for it, just a matter of getting organised. Cool
It's 160 miles from my place. If anyone has space on a trailer let me know

Thanks for the quick and positive response ! Very Happy

We just try to put on the best display we can. Bikes don't have to run, just sit there and look nice. One of the RGV's we had last year was missing the whole engine and hardly anyone noticed ! Laughing

Unlike some clubs we're not obsessed with 100% originality or mint condition either - if people will want to look at it then it deserves it's place we reckon.

We don't know yet how much space we've got but everyone who's replied so far has been duly noted. If possible we'll go for one of every model but we'll have to juggle space and availability. We may even extend the theme with an MVX, NS400R or NSR50/80 Gag too.

Keep an eye on this thread and we'll attempt to pin everything down over the next month or so. And keep the offers coming if you haven't replied yet. Wink

(I've not actually got a Rothmans 28 by the way, I wish I had. The one we showed at Uttoxeter last year belongs to veroli1994.)

We haven't forgotten about this by the way. It's still definitely happening and we need you lot to help us out. Still waiting to hear how much stand space we've got to play with (and therefore how many bikes we can fit in).

Best thing to do if you're wanting to join in is to email me with a pic or two (of your bike Rolling Eyes ) and a few details. Ta. Very Happy

If I can get my '18SP into a state I'm happy with I might be able to bring that along with the MC21F3.
