crank bearings

Anywhere else do them. This is starting to look expensive. 150 dollars, 90 pounds for them two bearings. Is this normal or does everything seem extortionate for these things. Confused

Guys i have to anounce that for the time the middle Koyo bearings for the MC21/28 is out... I have only the outer bearings left... I am trying to contact Koyo to find out if they are going to produce these bearings again but i don't have a clear answer from them yet... They told me to order the bearings but they don't know yet if they are going to deliver to me... I am also searching for alternatives factorys that produce bearings and i have came up with someone that claims that he produce the same bearing as the Koyo middle bearing... But i don't believe anything till i see it my self... If i have any news i will post it right away in the forum...

Brian you are lucky....!!!! Wink

Cheers guys
Michael

Hi Brian ,

i read about that big end bearing number on this site . The only part that is still outstanding is the conrod .

Good luck with your crank rebuild . I am interested to see what the final rebuild price will be versus the new crank from tyga .

Cheers , Neal

I think everybody is missing the big problem with all the NSR cranks. I am currently in need of a new web for my mc18 and this is the big problem that people are going to experience eventually including all the mc21 and 28 owners out there.

We are all aware that the crank pin cant be replaced as its part of the web and if this wears then it needs to be replaced or repaired and as yet there isnt anybody that can do this. Chris appleby claimed that he replaced the webs on my crank for my mc18 with new stock he gets from somewhere in japan but it only lasted 2500km and the left crank pin failed so i have my doubts if what he told me was true.

I'll have a look though all my crank webs for you. Was it a '88 or '89 MC18?

I do really apreciate your help steve but I didn't make the last post as a desperate bid for help with my problem even though it would be great.

I thought it best to tell the true problem with the nsr cranks as everybody sort of forgets this. Eventually all model of NSR's will have the same problem when stock dries up for the later bikes. This crankpin issue is what we should be worrying about sooner rather than later. (mines a 5K but with a 2j motor)
