Where can i get a fairing for my MC18??

Mon Nov 23, 2009 9:49 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

I've had my MC18 for a couple of months and I love it! I need a complete new fairing and seat unit for it, I have spent days searching the net for them!

Can anyone advise where I can buy them, i've also heard that a Honda RS 250 fairing fits? Can anybody help??

Thanks
Mark

For mc18 bodywork now you're looking at 2nd hand or dodgy chinese ebay pattern panels.

To say an RS250 fairing "fits" is a bit of an overstatement.

The NSR250 mc18 and RS250 nf5 are pretty much the same bike, the differences are the seat subframe is different, so the seat unit will need modifying to fit.
The bodywork mounts are different, so they'll need moving or redrilling
The screenbrace is different, so that'll need sorting and the bars will be both to high and foul the fairing before it gets to full lock.

But when it's all done it'll look a bit like this (ignore the seat), or if you use a later fairing you could do one that looks like this, that's an mc28 bit you get the idea.
Basically the RS is the same size but not much else.

What model and colour is it?

Do you prefer standard or aftermarket?

When you say you need all new panels, do you mean yours are damaged or missing?

If you're looking for originals there's probably only two routes repair & respray or buy from Japan. But i have seen Lings listing a new 2J upper for £800 Shocked

I bought all mine from Japan and it does cost.

Alan at Alkamoto (on eBay) does sell and repair panels.

I had a panel welded at Sudden Impact and they did an excellant job

It's an 88 (R2J model i think), it's got a mickey mouse fairing and seat unit fitted it castrol colours, it looks great from 10 feet away when you squint your eyes! But it's been bodged on!

I like the idea of putting it back to standard over time if i can collect original bits on the bay.

I've also looked into a tyga kit but i'm looking at well over £500! Might do that yet?

It's pretty standard other than that but after joining NSR world I think i'm gonna have some open wallet surgery giving the MC18 the mods it deserves!!
