PJ Screw Self Destructed

Tue Dec 29, 2009 5:54 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi Guys,

I tried to pull the PJs out of my spare carb to check them out in preparation for finally getting my hands on a set of HRC needles.

I knew they were soft alloy screws so I went through my screw drivers until I found one that fit perfectly.

Gave it a turn and it just ate the soft alloy for breakfast.

I did a search and found that maybe a tap from a hammer or worst case drilling them out will do the job.

What about replacements?

Cheers

Clancy

i had one stuck as well, here is what i done.
Heat the carb up with a dryer and use a good fitting screw driver to loos it.
But as you said it has being ate away so now you will have to get it out with this tool i dont know the name but what it does is screw into the jet but with the direction opposite to the locking way so when you start to screw it in it will actualy start to loose the jet.]
Remember to insert this tool while the carburator is cold, then after that heat the carburator up and turn it "click" sound comes after and it will come out.
Maybe some one knows what tool i am on about. i am sure they sale them in hardwear stores it look like a drill bit by the way.

a screw/bolt extractor. Bunnings or toolmart will have them. Just use a bit of penetrating oil first as well as a little heat

I'm just wondering if you know what the thread size is, then you could use almost any bolt as a replacement?
