Fitting MC21 rear seat cowel

Mon Jan 25, 2010 3:11 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi,

Does anyone have any tips / tricks on how to re-fit the rear body work on an MC21 without damaging paint work!

It looks to me like the seat unit goes on in one piece because of the way its screwed together and you just ease the front apart but it seems a poor idea.

I'm sure once you have done it a few times its easy but I would like to know the correct way of removal / refitting.

Many Thanks
Reub. Very Happy

Take off the little clip that holds the two sides together, its located just under the rear of the seat pad. Then remove the small screws that hold the seat panels to the metal frame around the boot lid hole, you only need to remove 2 off these from one side panel, this will let you pull the front of the seat panels far enough apart to lift the unit off.
If you still have the plastic storage box attached its probably easier to remove the small rear panel and rear light before you lift the unit off.
A bit of lubrication on the grommets will help things slip back in as well Embarassed
