MC18 headstock bearing sizes?

Tue Dec 15, 2009 9:24 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi, does anyone have the outside diameter for the outer bearing (ie where it sits in the frame) for the mc18?

Need to order bearings for my front end but need to make sure the stock sized replacements will fit my mc16 frame.

Cheers
Paul

I can't quite work this one out.

Are you saying you got an MC18 frame?

If so, can't you just order MC18 bearings?

Genuine Honda ones are captured ball race, but you can get patttern tapered roller bearings from Wemoto or BitzForBikes

Rob, I'm using mc18 yokes in my mc16 frame.

I'm going to just bite the bullet and buy a set. If they dont fit I'll suss something out.

Can you not measure the MC16 ones and compare them to the MC18 ones? I wouldn't swear to it, but I think they are all the same. The front-ends are all interchangeable though, that's for sure, so the bearings are similar.

I've fitted RS250 RWU forks to both an MC21 and an MC16 without changing bearings, MC21SP forks to an R2J, and RS250 USD forks to my MC21. Quite why people mess with other stuff and then multiply their problems with different wheels and discs and spacers and whatnot, is quite beyond me!

Andy, although I had the complete mc16 bearings I only had the tapered inners on the mc18 yokes I bought so no go there.

I bought a set last night off the bay so I'll wait and see what they are like when they arrive. I'm feeling confident though after what you've said.

Actually, of course I neglected to mention that the RS forks had new alloy stems fitted, but all the NSR's are interchangeable for sure.

Well the bearings fitted fine so mc18 headstock bearings do fit the mc16 frame.

For future reference in searches Smile
