Ignoring the damage, the front just doesnt look right to me.. I know I'll never get it spot on due to the differences in size between the nsr and rs, but it would be nice to get it a bit better than it is. I'm thinking should it sit lower? The bars have been dropped quite a bit already!
Cheers

love what your doing with it paul get the mudguard on it may get the shape you want with a bit of jiggery pokery, technical term ive had the same thing with my rsw fairing and the burning blood fairing, get a mate to adjust it while you look at the bike, thats what i do _________________ ive seen more tarts than mr kipling
Are you refering to the gap between the bars and the fairing ?
It looks really good besides that, and even that is getting a little fussy. _________________ Winning isn't everything, but loosing isn't anything
Laugh because it's great to see you hacking about a 23 year 2-stroke with the enthusiasm of a 16 year old with a "Fizzy", cry because I love standard looking NSR's, especially 16's and 18's as they are so few and far between these days (and now there's one less!*), and applaud because of what you've so far accomplished with it!
The fairing, in an ideal world, would need to be lower at the front. The edges of the side-panels should run parallel to the frame spars. I would imagine, to keep decent ground clearance, you would need to hack a section out of the rear of the belly pan "wings" to clear the exhausts. This may allow you to raise the back of the fairing and drop the front slightly, evening the appearance up. Fitting a front fender will certainly help clean the look up though. My MC16 also looks way off with the RS fairing and no fender (although, funnily enough, looks bang on with the F-III stuff). With some of Si's jiggery-pokery though, I reckon my RS fairing will look fine. It's a much earlier version than yours though, far more suited to the NSR frame I would say. The ND/NF chassis is a lot more like the early NSR than the NX.
*Mind you, I can't really talk, but at least mine has the full compliment of HRC bits, and after many moons of contemplating, I think I may paint it the same as the red/white as Kobayashi's NSR in the MC16 brochure now.

Thanks for the input, I've stuck the front mudguard on now which does indeed tidy the front up, but I have to face fatcs that no matter what changes I do to the fairing, it'll not look quite right!
Andy, I've been laughing and crying at it all the way, but thanks for the applause!
I am looking out for mc16 race bodywork but this rs stuff came up cheap so it'll do for now. Like you I like the look of the early nsr's (not just because I own one) and think it'll look a little less out of place in the forgotten era with more period fairings fitted!
Definetely in the blue and white too.. maybe next season eh. Just want to get it up and running (and handling) now ready for march's test day.
dunkenb; To save me having to re-type and post pictures in here, pop a tenner in the pot and have a look in the members builds section Its all there

As Andy's said, the front is far too high and the back is maybe a bit low. Look at this, OK it's an NF5 with NX5 bodywork but it looks right. Look how low to the ground that front is, it's way lower than the edge of the (big, RS) front disc.
What I did on mine was made some brackets to hold the rear of the fairing up and force it to bend round the pipes. It scorches the bodywork but hey, you can't have it all! _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Mm thanks for the pic. Looks like I need to go lower and a bit further back. My only main problem is that I'll have to drop the bars a bit more. saying that, comparing to the pic you gave me looks like I need the bars level with the front of the seat.
Back to the shed it is then.. Hope one of you lot is gonna ride it at Llandow _________________ More **** two strokes than you can shake a **** stick at.
Yeah, those last two pictures show the fairing in its best position so far.
Touch that paint up nicely (and paint those awful red disc centres!) and I'll send you some "NSR-WORLD.COM Racing" stickers to go on it when I'm back on that side of the world! _________________ Andy.
