so either jamed over oil or under oil. Will be real lucky to be jamed in the middle.

Middle is very unlikely, as a solenoid is either energised or not, so it'd be at one end of it's travel or the other.

If the return spring breaks, it'll likely stay in the energised position even when the power is no longer applied. If the coil fails, it'll remain in the de-energised position.

Do you know how much it should be delivering then?

I'd be very impressed if you could honestly say what ratio it was providing, especially since the only way to make it pump oil is to have the engine running and the feed pipes disconnected...

I remember that when i disconnected it it had more flow in the same position and with it connected it had nearly zero flow!.I am preparing the bike these days cause i had bad bearings to the crank. When the motor starts and its ok i will do tests with the cable disconnected and adjust the oil pump to the point i have reasonable oil consumption.

There is very little flow when the engine it ticking over.

Why not set it as per the Honda directions?

Why not fault find the solenoid if you think it is faulty?

Yes very little oil on tickover not anything!

My mechanic has seen lots of oil pumps working but never saw one with zero flow on tickover....

I think the solenoid if it was faulty it would give more flow not less.

Honda is not fault free as many of you believe.I ordered a service manual im not an expert or a honda hater but i think honda made lots of mistakes on nsr's.
