Attached photo shows M Max black box. I assume this to be a derestrictor. Does anyone know anything about it? How does it differ from the derestricting procedure listed on this website? Should i remove it and derestrict per the procedure on this website? The orange/black wire is not connected to anything. Anyone know if this is correct? I will seal end from potential short. My virgen bike is maybe not so much a virgin after all?
I'm confused. The top diagram shows connection to brake lilght switch, two connections to the harness and one more that is not identified. The bottom diagram shows only connection to brake light switch. What does M Max do? Change the brake light in some way?
the brake light switch provides power for the orange wire that is spliced into the orange/blue wire.
As the bottom diagram shows, the GPS portion is nothing more then a pass through. Meaning it doesn't map the 4/5/6 gear position into something other then what they are already mapped into, so the GPS restrictions are still in place.
Your better off doing the wire splices yourself instead of using the m-max.
Of course the M-Max gives you the nice coupler for the GPS, so you can pull that off the M-Max box, do your wire splice there, and use the couplers from the M-Max box so you don't need to mess up your stock wire harness.

The M-Max removed the ignition retard for 4th, 5th and 6th gear (this limted the power for these three gears, which basically limits the overall speed capabilities).
The GPS wire splice goes one step further and maps the 4th, 5th and 6th gear into a more agressive ignition timing map, providing you with even greater power in these gears, which means more speed.
So technically the M-Max box does derestrict the speed limit, but doesn't provide you with the potential that the GPS ignition remap provides you.
Is it worth doing the gps splice? I have only done the O/B splice and that seems good on it's own. Will the gps really help that much? _________________ 92 MC21 NSR250SE / 09 ZZR1400
I live more in 5 minutes of riding my motorcycle than some people live in their whole lifetime!
I recently bought an SE and it had the airbox lid mod, different main jets, and M-Max box with stock pipes. It runs like a dump truck compared to my SP with reeds, stuffers, pipes, airbox mod, jet kit, and HRC delimiter (glorified wire splices).
reed valve stuffers. the white (some times black when made of carbon fiber, but you generally don't find those on our bikes) plastic piece that fits into the reed cages.
They assist the air / fuel mix flow into the crankcase, by 'stuffing' it in better due to their shape. _________________ MC21SP Plaything

The correct term is "intake rectifiers", and there's a small section about them (with pictures) in the tuning section. _________________ Andy.
