Ok, how did everybody do? I know Rich was going somewhere yesterday, did anybody else go out?
Here it was right around 45 degrees F and raining a little, then snowing a little! The track was so cold my Michelin Pilot Race tires barely got warm. I had my first real OH **** moment on the track where I came out of a very slow right hander onto the front straight and started to get on it when the back tire slid out. It happened so fast all I did was gasp and almost loose consciousness, but it hooked up quick enough that I didn't highside. Took the better part of that lap to calm down and get my butt muscles to loosen up! I want to learn from everything, but honestly it happened so fast I doubt there was much of anything I could have done had it kept going on me.
It sure was nice knowing that my SP was safe at home the whole time! Building a dedicated track bike is the way to go.
Well Craig, the main thing at any track day is you and bike leaving at the end of the day in the same condition you arrived, and having a good time through the day. Sounds like you achieved all that.
I was at Mallory Park yesterday, the weather was hot & sunny and could well have been the best day of the year so far, just like mid-summer in the UK. It was my first outing on road or track since Sept, 7 months ago!
For one of my sessions, I didn't get the tire warmers on early enough and went out on luke warm slicks. First lap, going steady but the rear still slid out, off the throttle, turning into the chicane.
Overall both bikes (MC21 & NXA) ran really well, yep having a dedicated track bike and the SP safely tucked up in the garage is a nice option when its possible, but respect to guys with one tidy / special road bike who give it a good thrash on a track day. _________________ Rich

Pics are up. The ebay plastics say 250R on the back number plate and I wanted to cover that up. The electrical tape "2" worked perfect for both sides. See how creative I am? LOL
The photog must have taken all of these in the first session before I realized that if I moved my head to where the "inside" mirror would be, it felt (and probably looked) a lot better. I can't wait till next time so I can get my groove on even more.
It was hanging safely in the trailer in case I "had an off-track excursion". I took it in case somebody had already rented the leathers that fit me. That's also not my real SP, just looks like it. Some things are better when they're faked. (oh boy I'm leaving myself open on that one)
Holly crap you're lucky I saw that link before Andy! Not only a massive link but it didn't work!
And Craig, re. not wearing your suit in case you run off track;
always dress for the ride, not the crash _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Shame wasn't it Fontyyy? I of all people should know that it's more important to look good than anything else. bwahaha Thanks for fixing the link, I couldn't figure out what was messing it up.
