Dry Clutch Removal

Tue May 11, 2010 12:56 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

What's the best way to remove the dry clutch on a 1991 SE model. I can't get the clutch tool (two steel rings welded to a handle) in there to hold the clutch hub.

Also, is there a good source to buy a clutch hub. Mine looks pretty beat up.

Thanks.

I have sacrificed old clutch plates in the past (I now have a set for wet clutch and one for dry).

I used one metal plate and one fibre, drilled and bolted them together. That then holds the clutch together whilst you undo the centre nut.

Bodge and sorted.

Might just work...... forgot to say the clutch/gearbox can be removed with the motor still bolted in the frame.

Thanks for the advice. The motor is still in the frame. I thought it would be easier to remove the clutch while in the frame. That way I don't have to hole the motor still on a bench.

Can you still order NSR parts through a Honda dealer in the states?

ordering KV3 parts through honda dealers in the states is hit and miss (mostly miss).

Your best bet is to work with Craig @ Redline Powersports (http://www.redline-ci.com/)

Use this:

wrench

Whilst your bike is in gear, with a rag-wrapped stick through the rear wheel.
