Mint MC28 spotted

Sun May 09, 2010 10:24 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Was in at Victorian Motorcycle Wreckers on Saturday looking for a few parts. They had a MINT MC28SP that they had just imported from Japan and had sold to a collector for 10K aussie$. Bike had 3,000 km on it and was pristine. I didn't have my mobile with me so didn't get any pics. Apparently there is a place with 10 more in similar or slightly poorer condition and they are willing to bring them in to Melbourne if anyone is interested.

By far the nicest 28 in orinigal condition, around in melbourne (maybe even australia!) without a doubt! 10k though, that's a killer price!

Is it an SE with SP wheels and bodywork, or an SP with SE forks?! Who knows? Bitsa's that clean are always suspect though I reckon... makes me think rebuilt after a crash! Confused

Another case of someone with more money than sense! If I were to spend 10k on an SP I'd want to make damn sure it was all SP bits, even if the only people that can really confirm its validity would be the dealership that originally PDI'd/sold it.

The guys at the Wreckers that sold it to the lucky customer thought it was a true SP until I told them it wasn't - and showed them why it wasn't. They didn't know what to say after that.

It may well be an SP, but you have to then question why it has SE forks on it... which would only lead me to think "front end smash". A bike allegedly that mint and with those few miles though should surely justify SP forks to return it to original condition? Confused

The front wheel had some damage and was repainted. You could see the cheap paint job with bubbles on it. I was thinking the same thing as well - front end damage.

They had a couple of '21's too, and a 3xv. I was kind of tempted, but what's the point on a non-complied bike? A pretty expensive track toy or garage ornament.
