OK, Steve and I have given this some thought, and we are going to arrange one last NSR-WORLD bash before we give up and call it a day! This will be the last unless it's well supported! The last dyno day was free, and still no-one made any effort, so you've been warned!
We have provisionally decided on the Early May Bank Holiday weekend of 30th April ~ 2nd May 2010, and have decided to run a Grey Import Bash! This date is provisional only because we are yet to secure Llandow for the date, not for any other reasons such as, "Oh, I can't make that weekend... how about [insert date] instead?"! In the past we have tried to appease too many people to much of the time, but this time there's not really any excuse! (The only person that can postpone it is Steve of course, if the dyno becomes unavailable!)
The format for the weekend is well tried and tested, and as follows:
Friday 30th:
Grey import track day at Llandow in South Wales for all 2-strokes and Japanese imports "up to 400cc". (This includes over-bores of course, but we mean 400cc based grey bikes.)
3 groups, beginner/intermediate (250/400), advanced (250/400), and advanced (2T only - this is NSR-WORLD, after all!). The morning is generally well structured and carefully paced so as not to overwhelm less experienced riders, an 45~60 mins for lunch, then the afternoon is more fast-paced, often resulting in effectively an "open pit" where you can go out on track at will. No noise limits (enforced) at Llandow, and the marshals are extremely 2-stroke friendly and enthusiastic. Everyone who has done one of our days at Llandow before has agreed that there is often actually too much track time to handle! Unlike most other days, you will find yourself sitting out sessions just for a rest! Guaranteed you won't be disappointed!
Night out on the tiles in Plymouth. (Not included in the price! Participants also to pay for their own lap dances, although you are more than welcome to pay for dances for Steve or myself if you wish!!)
Track day: £75 per person* (£50 deposit)
Saturday 1st: 2-stroke Dyno day at GT Motorcycles in Plymouth.
This takes the form as follows; An initial power run followed immediately by a base setting/plug chop run. (2 runs) The bike is then removed from the roller while the owner makes their own adjustments as they feel necessary. While this is happening, the next bike is receiving its two initial runs. The sequence continues until all bikes participating have made their first runs, and then the cycle continues. The maximum number of runs depends on the the hours the dyno is allowed to operate 8:30~17:30 and how fast bikes can be turned around. Plenty of advice and previous setups available for base settings etc. for a wide range of models and years of 250. As bikes are completed (some may only require 2 or 3 runs) more time can be allocated to those requiring more setup time. Sure, those who need more setup get the better deal, but it's as much about the experience of the day and the expertise on hand as it is about the cost.
B-B-Q will be available most of the day at sensible prices (basically to cover costs) as long as we can find someone to put the chefs hat and apron on! Else there's a cafe on-site at GT Mortorcycles, but it will be noticeably more expensive. (I.e. they need to turn a profit!)
Pre-booked accommodation at The Holland Inn and Travelodge near Saltash are both around the £45 per night per room mark that weekend, although we may be able to get a discount with the Holland Inn if we were to pre-book a few rooms. The Holland has great parking facilities (i.e. plenty of space for trailers or vans, and even better dining facilities... top carvery last time we were there!)
Time permitting we will do 4T power runs only at the end of the day for £15 each.
We have a spectacular ride-out route for when the weather's good, that takes in some of Devon's finest scenery and roads! Basic route is Saltash >> Callington >> Tavistock >> Okehampton >> Great Torrington >> Westward Ho! and back. There is a much longer, even more challenging route that we can take if people are up for it, if the weather's good, and we set off early enough. The ride-out is ridden at a sensible pace, with those up front controlling things to a safe speed for anyone less experienced in riding in groups. Those near the back are able to ride the wheels of their bikes should they choose! We've done the run with 2, 3, 5, and (enthusiastically!) 7 bikes, and larger numbers certainly make for exciting speeds for the last 2 bikes if they drop behind briefly! The roads used are mainly national speed limit, with very good smooth tarmac and (mostly) excellent visibility. Strangely they are also usually very underused! Petrol stations are already mapped on the route, and so long as no last-minute deviations are made along the way, there's no chance of running out... even on an MC18, or if your name's Fontyyy!!
We cannot stress strongly enough however, 30mph and 40mph limits must be strictly adhered to. The roads are often extremely quiet, and extremely under-policed! We don't want to attract attention to ourselves and ruin some fantastic roads because idiots can't keep it in their pants and be sensible through built up areas, besides, the further you fall behind by sticking to the speed limits, the harder you get to ride in the national speed limit areas to catch up!!
Prices as follows:
Track day: £75¹ (£50 deposit)
Dyno day: £25 (2T only)
Ride-out: Free² (You pay your own fuel and snacks!)
Ti Members 15% discount. (£11.25 T.D. + £3.75 D.D.)
¹If take-up for the T.D. is strong, the the price will be dropped to £70 per person.
²If take-up for the ride-out is high, then we may decide to levvy a small £5 for those ONLY wanting to do the ride-out, as I will buy some PMR VOX-activated 2-way radios to share out so group leaders can stay in touch on the road.
Depending on interest we will make enquiries with The Holland Inn to see if we can get a reduced rate. This will require payment in full in advance. Please speak up on this one... remember we are talking pretty much the first decent hotel on the primary route into Cornwall on a Bank Holiday weekend, so we need to act fast!
Please register your interest for all aspects via this topic ASAP please, and make payment as a gift via PayPal only please to import.bash@nsr-world.com If you cannot make payment by PayPal, get together with someone who can please! It gets out of hand too easily when I start taking cheques and having to move money through my bank account! We want to make this a real weekend to remember, so please pull together and let's make a real show of it! Depending on interest maybe we can get one of the bike mags on board seeing as they seem to be getting back into 250's these days!
Keen to see what everyone thinks please.
Edit: Incorrect date posted. Changed to beginning of May. _________________ Andy.

When I saw the title for this topic I thought you was going to spend the whole weekend bashing all bikes except MC16 to MC21's, with particular attention paid to the RGV and MC28
I am afraid my MC28's and RGV wont be able to make it any time near then, the Mrs is due to deliver a new MC28 fan in April next year so I expect it to be a little akward, if I still have the track MC28 then Tom is more than welcome to take it along for some time on the Dyno .
I'll be up for this only if it doesnt clash with any race that may be on the same weekend. I wont know until December at the earliest though, but if I'm free then a definete yeah for the trackday. Always wanted to do Llandow.. ooer _________________ More **** two strokes than you can shake a **** stick at.
Count me down as a definite Andy. Plenty of notice, so can plan my work around it. I'll bring one or two track bikes down, so I'll be at the Track Day & Dyno, but miss the Sunday ride out and take the long drive back to Leeds instead. I reckon Si's bike will be ready by April (its gotta be ), so I'd be able to pick him up on the way down Hotel required for Friday & Sat nights. _________________ Rich

Rich, we chose that weekend as Monday is a public holiday! Could you not drive back on the Monday, and therefore do the ride out too? I'm sure you'd really enjoy it! _________________ Andy.

I'll be a definite for the whole bash, including a night at the Inn.
I already have two PMR radio's, so no need to buy some if you don't want to, I'll bring them along...
Incidentally, for those interested, the kit that Maplins do is very good - just make sure you take the kit out of the box and try every radio in the shop until you find a combination which works. _________________ MC21SP Plaything

Im well up for the whole weekend but the crank is still in pieces for my mc18 at the mo, so unless i manage to either sort a replacement or get chris appleby to pull his finger out and get the parts required to rebuild mine then i wont be able to come. (i could always blagg my dads RD250 though)
Erm, it's 27 weeks away... I'm sure even Si can sort something out by then
As for me, the bloke up for anything? Well, I'll have to have a think as it's virutally guaranteed to clash with a DP meet. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
