full tank milage

Sat Jun 05, 2010 7:19 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

on the mc28, with stock setup what type of milage is expected are we expecting?

i recall getting around 190kms on a tank (incl reserve switched), but lately, i've only been able to get 170kms from a tank, reaching the reserve at about 145km. im also feeling noticeable loss in the low end, and the idle doesnt drop smoothly/quickly. bogs a bit at around 1900 for a few seconds, then drops to 1300.

No idea about the 28, but my 21 does about 150 miles to a tank - 240 kms.

Is your bike modified?

how many kilometres have you done on your top end? Done a compression test recently? Jets or air filter hasn't clogged up?

all stock and within the last 5000km, i've put in new plugs, air filter and cleaned out the carbs which looked decent. right now it's got about 14,000kms on the engine and never done a compression test.

and petrol in hk ain't cheap either

Do you really mean within the last 5000? I think your servicing schedule is a little optomistic!

Quite!

Does anybody know the proper servicing intervals for the NSR?

I'd be surprised if it's as long as 5k.

perhaps with proper servicing, but when buying a used bike i've got little to know about the past. these are some of the first steps to get intimate and get this thing running decent again.

so really, i should be looking at 250kms per tank.

without knowing the true history of the bike, i've simply started pegging these off one at a time.
