MC21 just died

Sun Jun 06, 2010 8:16 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi guys, just went for a 40 min ride, jumped off and gave an English lesson for one hour. Went to jump back on and there was no neutral light when i turned the key. Evil or Very Mad Has been running fine the last 2 months riding almost daily.
I thought it was the battery so gave it a charge and will try it tonight, but tried to do a running start without the battery and just the positive and negative locked together, and it just coughed a little and wouldnt rev. Think its the PGM? Only put this spare PGM in last November so hoping it isn't fried.
Its a 1990 R with jha pipes, pod filters and HRC delimiter, though i've only had it 9 months and she's seen better days.

thanx
Jai

the bike shouldn't run with the leads to the battery shorted together.

Check your battery voltage, if that is fine, check your battery is charging when the bike is running.

What are your plugs like and when was the last top end done? Check your jetting later too.

Check the fuse. My MC18 did this on thursday. Had a dodgy connection on the positive terminal and the 20amp fuse blew. All lights out when the key was on. Bike would still run, but the electrics are no good without a battery in the line.

It will be the PGM if you keep pulling tricks like that Neutral
