R6 regulator on a MC18

The reg on the MC18 looks to use the same system as the NC30 for which a good upgrade is too use a R6 reg. Can anyone think of why this wont work on the NSR?
Ive got the R6 reg so thinking replace the old NSR unit now rather than risk it failing on me.
