Temperature gauge problem.

Sun Aug 08, 2010 9:57 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi guys. 1st time post. Have just bought mc16 just like i bought from colin appleyard motorcycles in 1987. I think i was the 1st to race one in uk at auto 66 club races for 1987 season. Anyway bike seems ok except for temp gauge not reading. When ignition is turned on the gauge moves just a little, but when i warm bike up gauge does'nt move further. All coolant pipes get hot so i presume pump is working ok. Do you think this is feasable? I don't want to do terminal damage. I am not much good at electrical diagnosis but a bit of advice would be very much appreciated. cheers. dazsegger.

Hello Daz, and welcome to NSR-WORLD.

You could be lucky and find it's just a dead sender in the thermostat housing. Just make sure, as you say, all the hoses are getting hot. Feel the sides of the radiator to be sure the coolant is fully circulating.
