mc21 f3 rear shock

Sat Jun 19, 2010 7:59 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Am i likely to be able to still find a mc21 f3 rear shock for sale?
Where would be the best place to look?
How much would they be likely to go for?

Umm...

1. New, extremely unlikely, but I bet there's one somewhere! (No, I don't know where there is a new one; I'm just saying!)

2. Yahoo! Auctions.

3. ¥40,000~50,000 I would say you should have to budget for. Long gone are the days of ¥12,000 shocks I'm afraid! Wink

I know where there is a "spare" one, but whether he will sell it is another matter...

It took me best part of 3 years to get my two. One for the MC16 and my MC21 one.

The MC16 one looks like it was dragged out of Tokyo Bay, but when they come up you just have to grab them!! Still need an MC18 shock! Confused

Does anyone have a spare MC21 F3 rear shock they would be willing to part with?
I know its unlikely but if you don't ask you just don't know.

This is pure speculation, but it is a possibility; you'd need to do some research though...

HRC NF5 rear shock

There is a possibility that the "fork" bottom on an NF5 shock could be swapped for the NSR SP's "eye" type bottom. Naturally the shock will need to refilled/re-gassed after, but I'd imagine you'd want it rebuilt before using anyway.

You'll have to ask someone nicely how long an NF5 shock is and compare that to the length of the MC21 shock, but it's something I've thought about for some time now. NF5 shocks seem to go for very reasonable money, and if it does work, "converting" them NSR spec could be the way to go! Wink

This one's £75, and even if you spent £150 on it having it modified, rebuilt and re-sprung, that's still a cheap HRC shock!

I want to raise the rear up as i like the way bikes handle with it slightly higher. I also don't really want to lower the forks as i am quite tall (6ft2)and want to keep the front ride height.

If its ride height adjustment you are looking for, you can also consider a RS125 shock. It'll need a revalve and respring, but now and then a cheap 2nd hand one pops up (like for £40!!)

Thats worth thinking about as well thanks. Will it fit without other modifications?
